Substituted benzenesulfonylureas and -thioureas show effects on the autonomous nervous system. The invention relates to the use of said compounds in the treatment and prophylaxis of dysfunctions of the autonomous nervous system, in particular of vagal dysfunctions, for example in the case of cardiovascular diseases, and their use for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions for such treatment and such prophylaxis. The invention further relates to the use of said compounds in combination with beta-receptor blockers and pharmaceutical compositions.
