'Bretonstone' technology is used for the production of a dual-layer slab or board-like article. The rear layer is formed from a mix comprising an inorganic granular material in expanded form, in particular consisting of beads of expanded glass, expanded day and the like, a filler in the form of a fine powder, preferably cristobalite, and a hardening resin, in particular epoxy resin or polyester. The first layer, which is intended to form the visible side of the article, comprises the same resin or a resin compatible with that present in said rear layer. A web of continuous glass filaments is arranged between the said two layers. The invention also relates to the article or slab which can be obtained by the abovementioned method.
