An armoured combat vehicle has a turret (32) mounted on a roof (20). An upright perimeter wall (38) runs along sides at least coextensive with the turret (32) and has a height sufficient to disrupt at least some of a shockwave emanating from an explosive blast along side the vehicle in a manner that tends to deflect the blast upwardly so that at least some pieces of debris and fragmentation resulting from the blast are also forced upward enough to miss the turret (32).
