A method for improving the positional accuracy of an existing digital or paper map or a vector database. The method is also used for updation of two-dimensional or three-dimensional geo-spatial database while maintaining absolute accuracy, relative accuracy and geometric fidelity to required tolerance levels. The method involves selection of non-coincident points on the strategic location where displacement is required. Triangulation is carried out on these points and a weight based transformation technique is applied on these triangles. Special transformation technique is used, where there is no need to shift the elements or there is a huge local and uniform shift.
