摘要

The present invention relates to a process for the production of bacterial cellulose by Acetobacter using plant extract based growth medium maintained at a pH suitable for the growth of Acetobacter. The invention also relates to the production of bacterial cellulose in the form of microfibrillated cellulose or cellulose sheets. The invention further relates that bacterial cellulose obtained is uniform, dense and transparent compared with bacterial cellulose obtained by process using media containing conventional microbiological components.
