The invention provides sacrificial aluminium based galvanic anode comprises aluminium and alloying elements for maintaining the potential of the propeller near that of cathodically protected ship hull by fixing said galvanic anode on the propeller hub. The galvanic anode of the present invention is fixed to the propeller to raise the potential of the propeller to make it at par with the cathodically protected hull.
