This invention relates to an improved friction forming process for configurating symmetric shape on a job-piece, comprising the steps of preparing a tool with a desired profile by using specified material, such as chromium molybdenum steel; preparing the job-piece and fixing it on the friction forming machine by a clamp; fixing the tool in a tool holder of the friction forming machine and rotating the tool at a speed, determined based on material composition of the job-piece and the tool including its profile; lowering the tool so as to touch the surface of the job to generate heat by friction and keeping the tool in that position for a specific time period; slowly lowering the tool until the desired shape is achieved on the job by controlling the movement of the tool using a height indicator; and stopping the rotation and movement of the tool; and removing the formed job from the fixture.
