The present invention refers to a process for producing a nitrogen-containing fertiliser based on nitrates in a binary mixture including oxygen and nitrogen at 50%, which is excited by cold plasma for generating ozone, and by hot plasma for generating nitrogen oxides (NOx=NO +NO2). Nitride oxide (NO) thus generated is reacted with ozone (O3) for producing nitrogen dioxide, which is solubilised into water so as to generate a solution of nitric acid and/or a salt thereof that has nutritional properties for plants. Moreover, the equipment used in this novel process has an additional property upon generating gas ozone and/or water-dissolved ozone acting as a biocide by only using cold plasma, and as a nitrogen-containing fertiliser by using the combination of cold and hot plasma. The process may be operated by renewable energy, thus the production cost of the fertiliser being reduced unlike the current Haber-Posch process for producing nitrogen-containing fertilisers.
