The device is secured to the underside of the seat and generates a warning signal when it detects that a male user may urinate while the seat is in the lowered position. The signal only stops when the seat is moved into the fully raised position or if the user sits down on the toilet. The signalling device generates a sound, light or vibrations, or a combination thereof, and is only activated when a closed electrical circuit is present. Sitting down on the seat or raising it prevents a spring from moving a lever into a position where it can form a closed circuit.
