A heavy-duty floor grid structure reinforces the surface of a deep mine roadway or tunnel with a fire hazard. The floor grid (2) has a plastic grid frame array joined at crossover points (6) and fabricated on a Raschel loom. The transverse and longitudinal sections have a non-slip join (6).
