The invention relates to a microalloyed steel used for manufacturing members for the construction of machines and motor vehicles and to a process for producing rods manufactured from said steel. According to the invention, the process for producing rods of microalloyed steel consists in the fact that the microalloyed steel is smelted in an induction furnace or in a direct-heating arc furnace and is poured into blanks which are plastically deformed within a temperature range from 1150 to 850°C, in the shape of rods with a diameter ranging between 10 and 100 mm, the products being cooled in the air after being plastically deformed.
