The invention relates to a process of thermo-mechanical treatment for thick sheets made of steel resistant to atmospherical corrosion, used preferably for making freight cars, trailers for road transportation, bridges, and the like. According to the invention, the process consists in heating for 4 hours, at a temperature of 1150 °C, a slab having a thickness of 250 mm and a width of 1 m, cast from steel S 335 K2 G2 W, followed by 18 rollings to reduce the slab thickness from 250 mm to 14 mm, at temperatures ranging between 1150 - 860°C, the cooling occurring at the environmental temperature and the mechanical characteristics of the obtained sheets corresponding to those provided by Norm SREN 10155 without applying the normalizing thermal treatment for 2 hours at a temperature of 880 °C.
