METHOD FOR ASSESSING SEVERITY AND PREDICTING COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH ODONTOGENIC PHLEGMON

A method for assessing the severity and predicting the complications in the patients with odontogenic phlegmon provides for the complex assessment of the clinical and functional-physiological parameters: body temperature, erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Besides, the objective criteria of the local and systemic severity are assessed by calculating the sum of the local factors (number and topography of intention, type of exudate), the functional-physiological parameters (heart rate, breathing rate, leukocyte count, age of the patient, the acute organ dysfunction, the concomitant severe pathology), and the anamnestic factors (days preceding hospitalization). The total score of 15-23 points is suggestive of the conditionally mild course; 23-24 moderate severity; 34 and more high severity with high probability of complications.
