METHOD FOR ASSESSING STATE OF CRITICAL ISCHEMIA OF LOWER LIMBS

A method for assessing the state of the critical ischemia of the lower limbs provides for intra-arterial radioisotopic angiography. When hypoperfusion in the foot is detected, the physical load is applied to the muscles of the leg and the isotope content is measured. The increase in isotope content after the physical load by at least 30 % is indicative of microcirculatory compensation allowing for the indirect surgical revascularization. When the increase is less than 30 %, decompensation is evident and the amputation should be considered.
