A Stirling cycle machine has four two-piston modules with opposite cylinders with double-acting pistons connected to common rod and separating each cylinder into expansion chamber and compression chamber, at that expansion chamber of each module is connected by pipeline to compression chamber of neighboring module to circular circuit. Between the opposite cylinders a controlled double-acting hydraulic cylinder is placed coaxially, with piston installed at the middle of common rod, and between the cylinders and hydraulic cylinder a buffer zone is provided.
