A method of separation by mechanical strength of grains of synthetic diamond produced in presence of alloy-solvent of carbon, which contains iron and silicon in amount from 2 to 17 (mass %), includes sieve classification of diamond grains into narrow granularities and subsequent separation of the grains of each granularity according to the form of grains and strength. The grains are separated in magnetic field into the groups with different magnetic susceptibility and different mechanical strength.
