A mold for casting steel ingots from rimmed and semikilled steel containing an extended down inner chamber of variable conicity with semienclosed top side, whereas the inner chamber in the upper part has the uniformly tapering upward portion of pyramidal shape, the taper faces of which makes 7-36 tapers of the faces of basic, lower part of the chamber, and the height of upper portion of increased taper is 0.08-0.2 of the total height of mold.
