The profile (1) has a base profile (2) fastened to a component (10), comprising a retaining bar (5) and provided in a mounting position to form a U-shaped retaining area (6). The retaining area accommodates a compressed and subsequently expanded sealing strip that lies on the component and the retaining bar in a sealing manner after time-delayed expansion. A flexible retaining lip (40) is provided on the retaining bar and fixes the sealing strip in the retaining area. The retaining lip is made of hard or soft plastic i.e. thermoplastic elastomer.
