A wireless network comprising: a master unit (1201); and a slave unit (1203), wherein the master unit comprises means (1239) for communicating with the slave unit (1203) via a virtual frequency hopping channel; wherein the slave unit (1203) comprises means (1233) for communicating with the master unit (1201) via a virtual frequency hopping channel; wherein the master unit comprises means for sending a master address (1205) to the slave unit (1203) and means for sending a master (1207) to the slave unit (1203) clock; the slave unit comprises means (1233) for receiving the master address from the master unit (1201) and means (1233) for receiving the master clock from the master unit (1201); a hopping sequence of the virtual frequency hopping channel is a function of the master address (1205), and the master address is a unique unit identifying address; and a phase of the hopping sequence is a function of the master clock (1207).
