A product that is provided with a coding pattern (3), comprising a plurality of marks (4; 7), each of which represents one of at least two different values, characterized in that the coding pattern further comprises a frame with weft lines (8), where the intersections of the weft lines define a plurality of regularly arranged nominal positions (6) of the marks, each of said plurality of marks being associated with and displaced from one of said plurality of positions nominal in one of a plurality of predetermined addresses and the value of each brand being indicated by its location in relation to its nominal position.
