An apparatus comprising: means for sequentially selecting a first mask and a second mask (600; 602; 601), each mask comprising a finite sequence of binary bits; means for receiving the first mask, generating a first pseudo-random noise code, receiving the second mask and generating a second pseudo-random noise code; first means of multiplication to sequentially multiply the first and second pseudo-random noise codes by data to form a signal; and means for wirelessly transmitting the signal; wherein the means for receiving and generating comprise a generator (322) comprising a linear feedback offset register (400) and the second mask is a function of the first mask, in which the second mask is equal to a first row of a Boolean matrix MLC1 represented by: MLC1 = MLC0 (I ⊕ MT2) (M13 ⊕ MT4) -1 in which MLC0 and MLC1 are matrices that create the following N bits of a pseudo-random noise sequence generated by the first and second masks second for a given R state of the linear feedback offset register (400); in which I is an identity matrix; in which ⊕ is an XOR function; wherein MT2 is a matrix that advances the state of the linear feedback offset register (400) T2 code elements, in which T2 is equal to a length of a third pseudo-random noise code plus an integer X; in which MT3 is a matrix that advances the state of the register (400) of linear feedback displacement T3 code elements, in which T3 is equal to three times (the length of the third pseudorandom noise code) plus X; and in which MT4 is a matrix that advances the state of the register (400) of linear feedback displacement T4 code elements, in which T4 is equal to four multiplied by (the length of the third pseudorandom noise code).
