A nucleic acid sequence encoding all or a portion of the carrier protein organic anion OATP2, selecting said nucleic acid sequence of the group consisting of: (a) a nucleic acid comprising the nucleic acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1; (B) a nucleic acid encoding all or part of the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 2, wherein the portion transports pravastatin into hepatocytes; (C) a nucleic acid sequence comprising the coding region of (a); (D) a nucleotide sequence comprising the nucleic acid sequence of any one of (a) to (c) that differs due to the degeneracy of the genetic code; (E) a nucleic acid sequence comprising the sequence encoding OATP2 deposited with the American Type Culture Collection with Accession Number 207213; or (f) a nucleotide sequence comprising the complement of the nucleotide sequence of any one of (a), (c) or (e).
