A method, and associated apparatus (28), prevents misrouting of packet-data ina radio communication system (10) subsequent to anabnormal communication session termination by a wireless host (14). When adetermination is made that a communication session betweena wireless host and another host (12) has terminated abnormally, a temporaryaddress (76) used to identify the wireless host is not permittedto be immediately reassigned to identify another wireless host. Misrouting ofdata to another wireless host subsequent to the abnormalcommunication session, termination is thereby avoided.
