The inventionrelates to a combination electrodefor the restoration ofcorrosion-damaged reinforced concrete and amethod for controlling the same.The combination electrode consistsof a dimensionally stable electrode(1); a pre-fabricated, re-usableelectrolyte reservoir (2); means forprotecting against evaporation (3);a pre-fabricated, interchangeable,anionic ion exchange element(4); a central fastening elementcomprising an anchor, anchor rodand a rapid-clamping tappet (5); areference electrode (6) on the anchorhead; a humidification device (7); apower switching element for anodicregulation (8); a measuring systemfor determining the state of the ionexchange element (9), in additionto electric connections for thereference cell. The method consistsof subdividing the concrete surface to be restored into grid surfaces of equalsize; assembling the composite electrodes on the gridsurfaces; carrying out control measurements on each grid surface; settinginitial values; determining measurement, regulation andtermination criteria for each individual grid surface; supplying directcurrent to the grid surface whilst monitoring the referencepotential and the potential in the chloride sensor and the disconnection flankduring the course of the restoration, whereby the directcurrent output during the course of said restoration is regulated by pulsewidth modulation in such a way, that it corresponds to theenergy requirements of the grid surface.
