A description is made of a method as well as an apparatus for manufacturingcement clinker from particulate cementraw material by which method fresh raw material is preheated and possiblyprecalcined in a suspension preheater (1, 3) by heatexchange with hot exhaust gases, and preheated and possibly precalcinedmaterial is finally calcined and burned into clinker in arotary kiln (7), hot clinker from the rotary kiln is cooled in a cooler (9)and dust is separated from the exhaust gases from the preheaterin a filter arrangement (11). The method and the apparatus are peculiar inthat dust from the filter arrangement (11) is introduced intothe material inlet end of the rotary kiln (7) in a direction which is contraryto the flow direction of the kiln gases.Hereby is obtaineda significant reduction of coatings on the walls of the riser duct.
