BROMINE ADDITION FOR THE IMPROVED REMOVAL OF MERCURY FROM FLUE GAS

Bromine-containing compounds (10), added to the coal (16), or to the boilercombustion furnace (14), are used to enhance the oxidation of mercury, therebyenhancing the overall removal of mercury in downstream pollution controldevices. The method is applicable to utility power plants equipped with wetFGD systems, as well as those plants equipped with spray dryer absorber FGDsystems.
