The subject matter of the invention is an apparatus forcapturing and/or evaluating medical data on board a means oftransport. Said apparatus has the following features:a) at least one interface for the capture and/or input ofmedical data;b) a device for transmitting medical data and/or audioand/or video data from the apparatus to and/or from aground station situated outside the means of transport;c) the apparatus has a first mode of operation fortransmitting medical data and/or audio and/or video datafrom the apparatus to and/or from a ground stationsituated outside the means of transport, in which it isdesigned to protect a bandwidth, sufficient for videotransmission, on the data transmission means used;d) the apparatus has a second mode of operation fortransmitting medical data and/or audio and/or video datafrom the apparatus to and/or from a ground stationsituated outside the means of transport, in which it usesa narrower bandwidth than in the first mode of operationand/or a discontinuous data transmission mode (packetmode) for the data transmission.
