An airship having a self-supportinggas envelope and propulsion units is provided withgeophysical survey equipment, and geophysicaldata is collected while flying the airship. Also amethod for geophysical surveying that includesproviding a first airship with a first set of geophysicalsurvey equipment, providing a second airshipwith a second set of geophysical survey equipmentthat is complimentary to the first set, and conductingan airborne geophysical survey by flying thefirst airship and the second airship along a designatedflight path within a predetermined range ofeach other.
