A method and system forcontrolling fouling in a hydrocarbon re-finingprocess that includes measuring alevel of a particulate in a process streamof the hydrocarbon refining process incommunication with a hydrocarbon re-finerycomponent, identifying an effec-tiveamount of additive capable of reduc-ingparticulate-induced fouling based atleast in part on the measured level of theparticulate in the process stream, and in-troducingthe effective amount of addi-tiveto the hydrocarbon refining process.
