LABEL PRINTER API USING LUA PROGRAM SCRIPTING LANGUAGE

摘要

A system and method are defined formodifying functionality of a printer that is provided withfirmware for controlling printing operations. First programmingcode is developed that, when executed on acomputer readable medium, interfaces with the printer'sfirmware and modifies the functionality of the printer.The first programming code is written in a first programminglanguage, such as the LUA programming language,and the firmware is written in a second programming languageother than the first programming language. Thereafter,the first programming code is executed on the computerreadable, and the functionality of the printer ismodified as a function of the executed first programmingcode interfacing with the firmware. The firmware is notmodified by the interfacing.
