Single-phase active power filter with adaptive filter capacitor voltage has been used for electric network power factor improvement and as an interface for renewable energy source connection to electric distribution network. It differs comparing to classic single-phase active power filter because of presence of adaptive voltage circuit which adopts filter capacitor voltage to conditions in electric distribution network. In this way it is possible to additionally reduce harmonic distortion of line current. In the same time conditions for renewable energy sources connection are improved. Since additional circuit, for filter capacitor voltage adoption introduces additional losses in system its switching frequency has been limited to 5 kHz. Using adaptive voltage approach it is possible to connect renewable energy sources of lower voltages compared to classic constant filter capacitor voltage approach in single-phase active power filter.
