A method, system and router for advertising between border gateway protocol neighbors are provided. The method comprises: establishing a peer connection with a neighboring router; obtaining a notification message Notification Message sent from the neighboring router, wherein the notification message Notification Message contains the capability information of the neighboring router. Thus, a dynamic capability negotiating between the peers is implemented without interrupting the peer session, therefore, when the capability of the router in one peer session varies, the other ongoing sessions are not disrupted.
