It is shown an apparatus to adjust the reel-to-bedknife gap of a reel mower cutting unit (10), comprising a DC electric rotary motor (311) mounted to the reel mower cutting unit (10) to adjust the gap between the reel (12) and the bedknife (14); and a position feedback sensor (323) connected to the DC electric rotary motor (302) providing information regarding the position of the motor (311) and a controller (300) providing commands to nudge the motor (311) toward a desired gap between the reel (12) and the bedknife (14).
