Disclosed is a method of identifying aircraft including civilian aircraft and military aircraft. Each aircraft flying overhead is automatically identified by analyzing either frequency sweeps or differences in pulse modulation systems and/or polarization planes of the electric radiation emitted by the aircraft in the form of radio altimeter waves, air and surface scanning waves, meteorological radar signals, IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) signals, and/or radio waves from the transponder reply signals. Then, the aircraft noise at locations where the flight airspaces of civilian aircraft and military aircraft overlap is automatically measured. Moreover, the automatic aircraft identification data that has been arithmetically processed using the automatic aircraft identification method is used as a trigger for starting noise measurement or for signal judgment using statistical processing.
