The shop has a vehicle body distribution unit (144) which is guided in a painting section for base coat and a final coat or final coat-base coat of vehicle bodies. The painted vehicle bodies are delivered from the unit, alternately, in one of the continuous driers (146,148,150). A control station is arranged upstream of the unit. The retention time of the vehicle body in the painting box, is specific to the vehicle body type.
