The present invention relates to a method for reducing carbon dioxide, comprising the steps of: pumping up deep seawater to a surface layer by using a water intake device; releasing the pumped up deep seawater to the surface layer; mass propagating plant plankton by using the deep seawater released to the surface layer; and absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by using the mass propagated plant plankton. The present invention also relates to a method for preventing global warming using the method for reducing carbon dioxide.
