Provided is an electrolyte for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, wherein the electrolyte has a high dielectric withstand voltage while maintaining specific conductance, and an aluminum electrolytic capacitor utilizing the same. The electrolyte for the aluminum electrolytic capacitor is formulated by dispersing microparticles (C), which contain an organic polymer (P) that contains hetero atoms, in a solution that is prepared by dissolving an electrolyte (A) in an organic solvent (B). Preferably, at least one anion group selected from a group comprising a carboxyl group, a sulfonic acid group, a sulfuric acid ester anion group, a mono (di)ester phosphate anion group, and a borate ester anion group is used as (P).
