A method is described for producing a multi-colour volume hologram having holographic pixels (12a, 12b, 12c) in a photopolymer layer (10) of a photopolymer film (1), wherein, in order to suppress photochemical interaction between adjacent pixels (12a, 12b, 12c), a cross-diffusion barrier (14) is incorporated in a boundary region between pairs of adjacent pixels (12a, 12b, 12c) before the pixels (12a, 12b, 12c) are exposed to light. Also described is a photopolymer film for use in such a method, consisting of a backing film (18), on which a photopolymer layer (10) has been applied, possessing pixels (12a, 12b, 12c) in three different colours, between each of which there is a cross-diffusion barrier (14). The cross-diffusion barrier (14) suppresses cross-diffusion of activated monomers between the adjacent pixels (12a, 12b, 12c).
