A SYSTEM FOR REAL TIME NEAR-DUPLICATE VIDEO DETECTION

In one embodiment a method of testing for a near-duplicate relationship between a test video clip and a query video clip includes determining linear smoothing functions (LSFs) corresponding to segments of the test video clip from Video Distance Trajectories of the segments. The LSFs of the test video clip are then processed with the LSFs of the query video clip to generate a similarity measure. If the similarity measure is greater than or equal to a predetermined similarity threshold value ε, then the segments are deemed to be matched. Sequences of LSFs for query and test video clip sequences, and their similarity measures, are processed to recursively generate a Weighted Edit Similarity (WES) measure. A near duplicate relationship between the test and query clips is deemed to be present upon the WES exceeding a predetermined threshold value ζ.
