The invention relates to an implantable sensor adapted for monitoring a condition of an in-vivo implant or of tissue surrounding said implant, wherein the sensor comprises means for monitoring said condition, the means comprising an electrical circuit with at least one resistance element, the electrical circuit in use being in contact with implant material and adapted to carry a current generated by a voltage difference applied to the electrical circuit, wherein the condition can be determined by measuring said current and calculating the equivalent resistance of the electrical circuit based on said measured current. The invention further relates to a sensor assembly comprising such a sensor, to an implant comprising such an implantable sensor or sensor assembly and a method for monitoring a condition of an in-vivo implant or of tissue surrounding the implant.
