The invention relates to a method for the analysis and the display of the quality of a communication taking place on a field bus (FB) in automation technology, wherein the field bus (FB) connects a plurality of field devices (F, D) to one another and to a superior control unit (S) and wherein one field bus interface (FS) and at least one microprocessor (CPU) are allocated to each field device (F), wherein a CRC test of telegrams sent on the field bus (FB) takes place in the microprocessor (CPU), wherein both the defective and the error-free telegrams are registered separately and wherein a standard for the quality of the field bus line is determined based on the acquired information.
