The frequency-selective surface (FSS) comprises a periodic metallization structure (D) formed by the repetition of the metallization of a unit cell on a dielectric substrate (Y). The planar artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) comprises at least one FSS situated on a conductive earth plane (F). The invention can be used in communication systems, particularly in those which require reduced sizes such as portable systems, for example for implementing filters or as an earth plane for antennas. The use of the invention in passive tagging in radio-frequency identification systems in UHF bands on metals or in environments in which metals are present, such as hospital logistics, airport logistics, station logistics, the manufacturing industry, transport, the automotive industry, the food industry, and the metallurgical industry among others, is particularly interesting.
