Disclosed is a (meth)acrylate compound which is capable of producing a hardened material having a high refractive index and excellent transparency and heat resistance, and which has a superior handling ability; further disclosed are a curable composition containing said (meth)acrylate compound, and a cured material thereof. The (meth)acrylate compound contains an aromatic group represented by general formula (1), and the curable composition and cured material containing the (meth)acrylate compound that contains said aromatic group. (1) (In the formula, R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently are a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; X is an organic group having an aromatic ring and 6-30 carbon atoms; and a and b are an integer from 0-3.)
