The present invention discloses a method and system for obtaining initial frequency offset of dedicated channel in high-speed coverage scene, which includes: a User Equipment (UE) initiates a random access process, a base station (Node B) obtains the frequency offset information via a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH), encapsulates the frequency offset information value into the Extended Propagation Delay field of a Random Access Channel (RACH) data packet and transmits the data packet to a Radio Network Controller (RNC); after the random access process is finished, the Node B extracts the frequency offset information from the Extended Propagation Delay field which is transmitted from the RNC through a radio link establishment signaling and carries the frequency offset information. Based on the method and system of the present invention, in high-speed coverage scene, the uplink and downlink physical layer synchronization can be accelerated, and the system performance can be improved.
