The present invention relates to a musical instrument of the percussion family, consisting of a case made of four walls (1) defining the edge thereof and on which a lid (2) bears, the end side walls (3-4) having a rectangular profile, and the front (5) and rear (6) surfaces having a convex profile (7) in the lower portion thereof, while the upper portion thereof, on which the lid bears, extend along a line that is firstly rectilinear (8) and extends as a concave portion (9) which in turn extends into a rectilinear or very slightly convex portion (10) so that the case is divided into three areas: a very thick area (8) for producing bass and extending into a thinner middle portion (9) for producing mediants, the middle portion extending in turn so as to form a chamber (10) having a thickness slightly larger than that of the middle section in order to produce treble, wherein the chamber (10) producing treble is provided with a snare (17) applied against the lid.
