A screw-type dewatering machine which can, while preventing a substance to be treated from clogging due to hardening of the substance caused by compression, sufficiently knead and dewater the substance. A screw-type dewatering machine (10) comprising: a first dewatering section (10A) located on the hopper side into which a substance to be treated is fed, provided with a first screw (13) configured in such a manner that the diameter of a screw shaft (13a) gradually increases toward the downstream side, and compressing and dewatering the substance to be treated; and a second dewatering section (10B) provided at the stage behind the first dewatering section (10A) and provided with pin members (20) each having one end fixed to the outer peripheral surface of a cylinder (second cylinder (17)) and the other end projecting into the gap between adjacent screw flights (18b). The substance to be treated which has been compressed and dewatered by the first dewatering section (10A) is kneaded by the pin members (20) of the second dewatering section (10B) to raise the temperature of the substance, and as a result, the water content in the substance is evaporated and removed.
