The embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for a terminal selectively participating in a conference, a method for controlling a terminal participating in a conference, an access server, a terminal device, and a media control server thereof, and a system for a terminal selectively participating in a conference. The method for a terminal selectively participating in a conference includes: acquiring the information of all the conferences which the terminal is able to participate in or subscribe; selecting a conference identifier of the conference needing to be participated in or subscribed from the information of all the conferences which the terminal is able to participate in or subscribe; initiating a conference access call to the selected conference identifier. The problem that a terminal can not selectively participate in a conference in the prior art is solved. The freedom degree of the terminal participating in a conference is improved; the users can selectively participate in different conferences independently, thus facilitating the users to reasonably arrange different conferences.
