The device (12) has a water pipeline (18) with a separating device (28) that separates gas in the water pipeline. A bypass pipeline (24) surrounds the separating device, and a discharge device is provided for the bypass pipeline in a pump-sided pipeline area of the separating device. Valves (34, 42) are provided in the water pipeline and the bypass pipelines for opening a passage of the discharge device. The separating device has a housing (50) with an inflow opening and an outflow opening, and a blowing device is provided in the housing for blowing gas i.e. air.
