The invention proposes an apparatus and a temperature measurement unit for the contactless measurement and transmission of temperatures by temperature-sensing parts and to a related use with respect to an energy self-sufficient, contactless measurement of said temperatures and transmission of said measured temperatures in a simple manner. The apparatus and temperature measurement unit solving the problem comprise a thermopile sensor (1) for the contactless measurement of said temperatures, a thermoelectric generator (2) for generating a power supply at least for the thermopile sensor (1) among parts (such as 3 and 5) having a temperature gradient for the energy self-sufficient operation of at least one thermopile sensor (1), and a data transmission interface (12) connected to the thermopile sensor (1) for the transmission of the temperatures measured by the thermopile sensor (1). The use relates to a use in drive technology and/or in electric machines.
