An electric motor (10) for use in a dentist's, dental surgeon's or dental technician's hand piece (1), comprising a rotor (11) rotationally supported by means of a bearing arrangement and a stator (12) surrounding the rotor (11). The bearing arrangement comprises a first bearing (11b) located on an end region of the rotor (11) and on the opposite end region of the rotor (11) a second bearing (11a), designed as a floating bearing and pretensioned by a spring arrangement in the direction of the first bearing (11b). According to the invention, the spring force of the spring arrangement within a working region is substantially independent of the position of the floating bearing (11a).
